Dilan Yurdakul (1991) is an actress and theater maker. She started acting at an early age, she played in several shows for various (youth) theater groups such as DEGASTEN, Youth Theater020 and Likeminds. Next to acting she studied European Studies and German language and culture at the University of Amsterdam, both studies she completed successfully.
She has a great passion for literature, which often forms a base for her performances. For example, she wrote, produced and played the solo show Bekentenis van een Jong Meisje after the book by Proust (2011) and in 2015 she took the stage as Dorian Gray in Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde) as part of the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. In 2016 she toured The Netherlands and Belgium with Snow, produced by NTGent. Which was followed by a musical adaption she made of Carmen in 2017.
Dilan is no stranger to on screen acting, she played roles in the television films De hoer and het meisje (2011, HUMAN) and Biz (VPRO, VARA, NTR -” One Night Stand “) and has been a part of the main cast of Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden (our national soap opera) from January 2012 until the summer of 2019.
Recently Dilan became a part of a new writer’s platform funded by the foundation for podium arts. This 2-year project will allow her to research and produce 2 new theater shows. One of which just opened in Amsterdam and received raving reviews. Because of this succes a tour is being planned to take the show through the country.
Last fall Dilan returned to NTGent for a part in Who’s Afraid and wrote a television series that wil start production early 2021.
