After finishing high school, Edwin studied History for two years at the University of Amsterdam. He then made a move towards acting. He started his acting career in 2001 playing Tom Collins in the musical Rent and received a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award for Best Supporting Actor for his interpretation of this role.
In the past Edwin played Eddy Souther in Sister Act, Curtis in Dreamgirls and played the lead in A Chorus Line. Before that he appeared in the musicals such as Copacabana (Ricco), The Lion King (Mufasa), Billy Holliday (Lester Young) and Miss Saigon (John). Most recently he took the stage as Mister in The Color Purple and toured the country with Driving Miss Daisy.
Edwin is no stranger to the big screen, he played in films such as Oesters van Nam Kee, Madame Jeannette, Trage Liefde, Stiletto’s, Vox Populi, Polonaise en Tuintje In Mijn Hart. He made quite an impression playing, alongside Isa Hoes, in the feature film De Ontsnapping and most recently had a part in F*ck de Liefde. One of the most visited films of 2019.
Next to theater and film Edwin regularly appears in television series. He played Melvin Klamer in Trauma 24/7, played in Costa !, Wet En Waan, Spangen, Baantjer, Alex FM, Lotte, Meiden van de Wit, Voetbalvrouwen, Van God Los (de serie) and in the international Nickelodeon serie; Hunter Street. In the spring of 2019 Edwin played the part of Jesus in The Passion 2019.
Currently Edwin is on tour as Oliver Warbucks for the musical Annie and is getting prepared for his next film production.
